Photo sorting (by date/name) in folders inside a library

Contrarily to libraries, when I enter a folder the sorting is alphabetical (so earliest file to latest file) and I can only seem to only be able to sort Photos if directly inside a library.
The sorting in folders doesn’t follow the library sorting either. If I change the sort in the library it just affects the order in which folders are sorted, not the pictures inside.

How can I choose sorting for photos inside a folder? Or do I have to create a library for each photo folder?

I use camera upload a lot, and I upload my photos to an “iPhone” folder inside a “Photo” library, and all the photos inside the iPhone folder are sorted alphabetically.

Replicating the sorting functionalities that are already present for libraries, or applying the library sorting to all the pictures inside each folder would be an appropriate solution.

Is there a solution to this issue?I
I feel like this would be a useful feature for proper photo viewing capabilities.

Thanks!

I agree, I would love to be able to sort photos within an album by name. I have my photos named YYMMDD_HHMMSS_device.jpg and the pictures and videos appear out of order inside a photo album. Sorting by name or date taken within an album would solve this problem and make it much easier to view photos and videos in the order they were taken.

Agree - sorting by name would be the natural default, and by far preferable over the current. The nicest thing would ofc be to be able to choose, but if "there can be only one"™ then please do make it by filename !

Or how about reverse sort by date? So that the newest photos are at the top. Basic features folks, basic features…

We need more sorting options.

I created an album from the timeline.
It makes sense for the timeline to be sorted by newest first… but my album is now sorted backwards. When I open an album to show someone the pictures, I have to start from the BOTTOM and swipe to my right.

That’s backwards.
