Pi 2 with HDMI-CEC and Harmony remote

Anyone know how I set up a harmony remote to use HDMI-CEC?

I have a phillips TV which supports it and rather than install an IR controller etc.

I presume I can set it up to control the menu's - Play / pause etc?

Thanks

With HDMI-CEC, just set up the Harmony with the TV’s controls.

hmmm nope not working. I suspect it's because it's going through an Denon AVR (x2100)

Yes, maybe the AVR is screwing with the CEC signal. Does the AVR support CEC ? Have you tried navigating in Rasplex with the AVR's remote ?

Maybe you'll need an IR module.

Tired with all the remotes. I am not understanding the CEC concept I think.

Presuming the CEC is working ... I press a a button say a direction key on which ever remote I use - how does the Pi know what to do with the input? And does the TV / AVR ignore its normal command for that button

Have tried this myself, with Panasonic TV, Denon Receiver and Logitech remote.  Never quite got it working well enough, and opted for iPad / Web browser remote control. The TV will ignore some commands, and pass others - for example, mine passed the arrow keys, but never the color options!  It meant that I couldn't get enough buttons for all the functions I wanted.

In any case, I found that it the RPi failed to get the HDMI-CEC commands if the RPi was running before the TV (and since I have no power switch, it always was!).  As a test, make sure to enable the HDMI options on the TV, then try rebooting the RPi.  It should say that the CEC Adapter is located just after starting up.

My understanding is that CEC doesn't transmit signals from the remote, but commands, which are universal or standardized in the CEC standard. Typically, unless you're in a menu, the TV doesn't do anything with Up-Down-Left-Right-Ok commands, so it sends them over CEC. So you press the Up button on your TV's remote and the TV sends the CEC Up command through the HDMI.

I think that since your AVR is sitting between the RPi and the TV, it might be stripping the CEC commands out of the signal. Try plugging the RPi directly into the TV to see if it works.

I tested with my (also Denon AVR, albeit a different model), and there's no blocking there.  Couldn't find anything in the menus to turn on or off for that either.

I have a Harmony Smart Control which I use with Pi2 -> Yamaha AVR -> Philips TV and it works just fine with CEC. I use the AVR commands to control and Pi and have no problems with blocking etc. The only time I ever had an issue with CEC in the past was due to the HDMI cable I used. Try swapping yours? You should see the detected CEC devices appear when the Pi boots.

Hey, i use my Harmony One to control my Pi (Model B) and had no issue. Make sure to enable CEC and in case of trouble, try passthrough on your AVR.

I have no issue: My Pi is always ON and i don't remember having trouble with remote configuration. I can check Logitech software if needed.

I use Pi -> H/K AVR -> Sony TV.

As Marctwo told, the TV should tell you a CEC device has been connected.

Yeah I have the harmony -> panasonic viera -> denon -> rasplex setup...  CEC never worked quite right.

I just turned off CEC and went with the IR receiver.  Then you can use harmony and the rasplex keymaps to make every button do EXACTLY what you want.
