Pin TV and Movie library links in new Roku app

While I don’t particularly care for the new UI at this time, I’ll either grow to like it or at the very least accept it. My bigger issue is that my special needs brother has remote access and the new UI is going to result in confusion that I feel could easily be avoided. I drove the two hours to my parents on Saturday to log back in due to the recent data breach as walking my 80 year old dad through a long, random character password using the Roku remote and on screen keyboard just wasn’t working, never mind trying to explain 2FA and getting him to enter the numbers in before the code expired. My brother has difficulty understanding something like “on demand” and just assumes that if he sees the poster for something he can watch it. When the Roku app finished updating today and I went to check his profile not only were the libraries he’s authorized to use showing, but so were Live TV, On Demand, and something else (maybe linked services such as Netflix?) that I can’t remember off the top of my head. Which means my parents have to try and explain why he may not be able to watch something even though he can see it. It looks like this may be solvable by logging out and logging back in which wouldn’t be much of an issue if I could walk my 80 year old dad through a long, random character password using the Roku remote and on screen keyboard and get him to enter the 2FA numbers in before the code expired.

All that aside, it would be nice if there was an option to either pin libraries directly to the main screen somewhere so that TV and Movies are directly selectable instead of a sub-menu, or at the very least a “legacy” or “simplified” design that would allow for that. If that is an option, please point me to where it is because I’m not seeing anything like that. And is Roku the one who determines whether to display a link code or requiring a login/password? If someone could just call and give me the code for me to authorize the device remotely as I’ve done in the past it would be swell.

This is also bothering me. Why I can’t I have my libraries and continue watching on the home screen? If I use the 3 dots and favorite the ones I want to show, they don’t stay checked; same issue I have with the mobile app. I absolutely can’t expect my wife and older family members to use this, its very cumbersome.

Same issues my old server shows up in the library bar and no way to remove them, they just come back. If I go to the other page and “heart” one category from my current server, it does not stay on the bar. Nothing works and nothing is easy. Who developed this and why? I have removed and “unclaimed” my old server every where there is to do so. I have rebooted, logged out etc… Nothing works now I am typing this at 3am — at 10 pm after a terrible day I finally sat down to “continue watching” and BOOM.. all this crap. 5 hours later I still can’t watch anything

How do you even get Libraries to show? I have 5-10 friends who use Roku and I’m a few days in and still have 0 idea how to get libraries to even show up in the top bar… at all. Most of them just “used Roku to login” and now even those in sharing libraries with them it doesn’t show libraries in the top bar. I’m beyond confused.

You have to go to the 3 dots in the library top bar thingie and you’ll see and be able to favorite them there if it isn’t bugged for you.

What 3 dot section?

You don’t appear to be signed into that app with your don.alcombright Plex account and are instead signed in with some other account that starts with the letter M ( the avatar on top left)

Yes, that’s a screenshot from my friend who has access to my libraries. He’s the one with issues, sorry I should have been more clear.

I don’t know how to make libraries show up in the top bar.

If they have access to libraries then it should just show up. Unless the app cannot connect to your server at all for some reason. Looks like you are using Docker but not using host networking so possibly remote access is not working properly

We would probably need to see the Roku logs from your friends app if you can get them.

I’m assuming they can see your server libraries if they use the web app at https://app.plex.tv

I’ll see if I can get logs. No one else is having connection issues to me except my new friend and my parents who have no issues on their fire sticks and Roku worked fine until it got updated.

it just randomly appeared for him today, not sure why, he said he didnt do anything. So I guess I am good for now!
