Pioneer media streamer not seeing server on QNAP TS251+

Plex Media Server Logs_2018-12-01_22-05-47.zip (2.2 MB)
Server Version#: 1.14.0.5470
QNAP TS251+ firmware: 4.3.5.0760

I have a problem with my Pioneer X-HM86D streamer, which has only started occurring since I updated the firmware and Plex server on the NAS a couple of days ago. Basically, the streamer sees the Plex server, you select a song, it starts playing. At the end of the song it simply repeats instead of moving to the next song. When you then try to manually select a song it hangs and eventually displays ‘access denied by server’.

(as an aside, I am also running Plex on a Sony Android TV which works perfectly -actually better- since the firmware updates).

What could be causing the issue with the Pioneer? - The unit is running the latest firmware which hasn’t been updated for a good few months so I’m guessing that the problem is with the NAS firmware or the Plex server.

Both units have a wired connection to the router using fixed IP’s.

Any clues?

Thanks in advance.

The Pioneer and PMS do not agree on authentication requirements (error 401)

PMS sees it as a player and the Pioneer tells it to ‘go away’

This might equally be a firmware update to your Pioneer. I have had similar with my Onkyo

Add its IP address as an exception in “Hosts allowed without auth”. (Server → Network)
If you have security on the Pioneer, you should make the corresponding exception as well.

Hello Chuck - Thanks for responding.

Weirdly, the NAS offered me an update to 4.3.6.0776 which i installed, and the problem has righted itself!

I’ll add the exception anyway as a failsafe, but fingers crossed it was just a glitch with that particular QNAP firmware version.

Many thanks again
