Pixel 6 and 7 crash on EAC3 with Atmos codec

I had issue with some file since I’ve started using Plex on my Pixel 6 phone.
Apparently some where not working unless trascoded.
I’ve initially pinpointed the issue on the audio codec EAC3 but some where working while some not. After I give up a friends of mine had the same issue of me with the same files and he have a Pixel 7. Same exact issue.

So I’ve dig again and I’ve discover that the non-working file apparently are file encoded EAC3 with Dolby Atmos metadata. If I take the same file and throught ffmpeg rencode it again in EAC3 (losing the atmos metadata) it start working again.

I’ve attached the logs of both the android (Pixel 6) and Plex Server for only the specific timespan I’ve run the file.

The file used in this case is what you can find online as:
Dolby Test Tones 5.1.2.mp4
(i.e Downloads Page - Demolandia)

I’d already raised this issue here - Pixel 8 Pro reports EAC3 is supported, but EAC3 content fails to play
