Placing Movies in More Than One Library Results in Different Posters, etc

I have a good sized collection of movies in a library on my Windows Plex Server.

I create a new library and add the same folder to it. The first thing that I notice is that my movies are populating very slowly, as if Plex is re-downloading all the metadata for these movies. Once a movie is done processing, I notice that it has a different poster than in my first library.

It took a lot of work for me to get the posters, sort order, and other details all just how I wanted them. Is there any way to tell Plex to use all the same settings for these movies when I add them to another library?

Ultimately, I may end up changing a few details for some movies in the second library, but if I could create this library with all the same initial metadata that would save me countless hours of work.

I guess what I’m asking comes down to this: Is it possible to create a new library, using an existing library as a template, and then make a few changes and tweaks to that new library?

No.

No.

This raises the question of why you want to add the same content into different libraries anyway? If it’s about sharing them with different audiences… have you considered labels or other kinds of sharing restrictions?

I actually have a couple of very good reasons for wanting to do this. I’ll have to supply the details at another time. I can barely see my screen because of a double eye infection so it’s painful focusing on screen right now. I may post back a very detailed posting in a few days.

Thanks for responding.

Wow! I hope you feel better!!
