Planning to buy, asking a question before i do so

if i buy the lifetime pass and create a plex media server on my home server, will everyone who creates their own account, and access the server, have the same features i will as in watching/casting/saving as i will? i just dont want to buy the lifetime pass and end up with my family (living in separate homes) not being able to fully enjoy my plex server since they themselves do not have a subscription, will it restrict what they can do on my plex server?

They don’t get any of the benefits unless they’re living in the same home with a managed account

If they’re outside the home they don’t get any of the Plex pass perks like skip intros, downloads or mobile streaming.

They can only stream from your server using a computer or android TV, not a phone. They can pay a small fee for that but it only unlocks that device. I think it’s a one-time fee of 5 bucks.

The only thing I can think of that would possibly benefit them is your use of hardware transcoding which may improve their stream depending on what kind of files they’ll be streaming from you

Personally, I would recommend getting the free version of a server setup and started before you decide if you want a lifetime pass. You can add it at any time

Good idea to start with the free version.

You can also try the monthly Plex Pass plan, then purchase a longer plan if desired.
