Plex lifetime

If I set up a server and get a lifetime license…

Does each member of my “Home” or “Friends” have to get a separate paid license to access my server remotely? or will they fall under my license? if so… how many family members can be put on my license?

Home they are all under you and free.
But remotely it appears Plex are pushing for money.
I just had a friend join as a “friend” and it looks like windows app wants money and Android app wants money.
The only ways he had free streaming was through plex.tv in his browser.
It works but why charge for windows app when it is so easily bypassed??

Incorrect.

The ‘mobile’ apps are not free. (Android mobile, iOS, Windows app store app)

All other apps, remote or not, are free. (yes, even Android TV)

No. PMP and OpenPHT are freely available. As are Roku’s, AppleTvs, AndroidTVs, Raspberry Pi (with even 2 choices available: ‘Rasplex’ and ‘PMP embedded’), many types of Smart TVs…

Besides: the mobile apps are available for a moderate one-off fee.

With Plex Pass, the server owner and his Plex Home members (max. 15 people) get these apps included.

so what I’m gathering is…
I know that people on the same wifi can access and operate my server (streaming and chromecast’s)
If I buy the lifetime pass, my “home” members don’t have to make a purchase of the pass, and can REMOTELY access my server without the 1 minute time limit?

Yes and yes.

You can test everything out even without Plex Pass. Just not with the mobile apps.
Even for remote streaming you don’t necessarily need the Pass.

Be advised that you should only invite people into your Plex Home who are living with you in the same household. It is a security risk. Here’s why: https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/204232453-Fast-User-Switching

Ok - so all are free except the phone versions…
Where does one get the windows PMP for free?
The versions I found yesterday on windows all wanted a plex pass!

The PC/chrome version will still advertise for you to get a plex pass, but it’s not required. What I’ve found is that you can still stream to your PC… you just won’t have the features of a plex pass like the music “mood” (pandora like playlist) and such other features. This is what I gather at least.

Note: You will still have to “sign in” even if you don’t have a paid plex pass, but it WILL stream.
