There appears to be a bug with the 'play from start" or “watch live” feature in Live TV & DVR for shows currently recording.
When “play from start” is selected - it no longer plays from start instead plays the live stream. I Only way to see the show from the start while its recording is to wait for the skip back and forward to appear, at which point I can manually scroll to the start of the show.

This has been reported broken on AndroidTV, since back in February maybe. Did you just update or something?
I second this still frustrating bug is alive and well in the nvidia shield.
id be keen to hear from someone at PLEX - Android-TV team to advise why this issue is not being resolved specially if its been present for 6 months!
This is something we’ve been investigating, but it’s been tricky to track down the exact cause of it (particularly as it seems to be a race somewhere, so we can’t always reproduce it). There is another thread where I’ve commented on the issue, and given updates when I’ve had things to share.
I don’t know what a “race” is but do not hesitate to contact me for any further assistance I can provide in getting to the bottom of this bug.
Just to add, as mentioned by @NDInnovations, I also don’t remember this bug existing perhaps 6 months ago or so.
