Play List Description

I typed out a description for my Star Trek play list that is a couple pages long. It shows up just fine in the PLEX WEB interface. However, it doesn’t show up on any other platform I have tried. PC PLEX app, iPad app, Android phone app, XBox app, Roku app.

So, is it supposed to show in other apps? I sure hope so.

Just checked this on my iPad… there my playlist descriptions are being displayed - however they’re usually no more than 1-2 sentences.

Have you considered using collections instead of playlists? You’ll be able to display them inline with your movies/shows (even showing same-named collections as related media across libraries). Also they’re more flexible with regards to their own metadata and posters/background.

Collections in general are already available on all server/client versions. Inline collections are still limited to the beta / Plex Pass releases and require to use the online Plex Web (for now)

I use collections for many things. Hallmark movies, Bond Movies, Avengers, Disney, X-Men, etc… However, it is not possible to do a collection with star trek TV episodes and movies all inline with each other. I mean, if they would (another suggestion I have made for PLEX) make it so that we can show LINKED items from folders instead of having to have the items in those folders…that would work. But I don’t want to have to have 4 copies of movies or tv episodes sucking up space on my drives just so that I can show them in several different libraries. IF they would make that possible, I could simply create a Star Trek Library (A great idea, btw) and then manually set the order in the SORT TITLE field. But who knows when they will both do make that feature a reality when we are still waiting on the 2 most popular requests (I would put money on it…) for the last 2-3 years or more… Server messages to users (NOT a disconnect message) and ability to simply share a playlist with other users.
