Dear Plex friends!
How can I set it for my Plex server that it always streams films in streaming (i.e. access from the outside) unconverted, i.e. basically plays films as they are? In the settings I only find the most several conversion options 1080, 720 2Mbps, 3, 4 etc. … The problem is that the films are not played. If I then go to the playback settings of the CONCRETE film itself, I can select exactly this setting (use original quality) and the film will be played cleanly, whether 1080, 720 or anything.
If that could be saved in principle, it would be a dream.
Thank you very much for your time!

You can’t set your Plex Server that way.
The ONLY way to ensure that is via the ‘Remote Quality’ setting in each individual Remote Device/Client App.
Oh yes - it’s hot-button issue for Users.
Plex seems rather unconcerned. Unfortunately.
ATM - your options are severely limited.
Sorry for jumping in ----
- Disabling transcoding
- Setting playback quality to Maximum on the clients.
- Remove Remote Access streaming limits.
Doesn’t this provide what is asked?
Locally - the issue can be solved by simply selecting ‘Original’ or ‘Maximum’ as the Default Quality.
Files played ‘Remotely’ - require the setting of ‘Remote Quality’ to ‘Maximum’, or to a remote quality high enough to Direct Play the file - until the upload bandwidth runs out.
There is no server setting to handle that bit as it’s ALL in Remote Access in the Remote Client App Setting.
