Play on track adds entire album

Plexamp When you press play on a track it adds entire album instead of the one track…

That is intentional. If you want to add just that one track, choose add to queue.

Why would that be intentional? If I press play on a track I want that track to play not the entire album… If i want an entire album to play i would press play on an album. That seems super strange. Not to mention if you press play at an album level it puts all albums in the queue. Definitely not intuitive and super strange if that is intentional.

Because you may want to play the rest of the album starting from a specific track and not necessarily from track 1.

Do you have auto-play enabled in the Plexamp settings?

No I turned auto play off. I only want the thing to play what I tell it to play.
If I hit play on an album, play the album.
If i hit play on a track, play the one track.
If its multiple tracks maybe they need to add a feature to select multiple tracks…

As far as playing from track x to the end seems fairly specific case to overwrite the normal function of a play button.

Also adding to the queue seems not to be an option if it is the first play only if there is already stuff in the queue. So that doesn’t jive either.

Hmm, hitting play on an album queues just the album for me. Are you sure you’re not hitting play for the artist? If not, I’m not sure.

I really thought this was common design.

Actually you are right It wasn’t the album it was a track off of the popular list. It populates with multiple things across multiple albums.

I have admittedly only used a small number of music player apps. Winamp, Mediamonkey, Songbird, Spotify etc., I don’t recall any of them ever randomly placing things in the queue if I didn’t specifically tell them to. But I suppose I am likely in the minority then.

After double checking, you are correct. I meant to say “play next”. This you can do with an empty playlist, and it will only queue up that track then.

Nice well at least that solves that piece.
