Plexamp queue behavior

Hi all,

I use plexamp whether I’m on Windows PC or Mobile. My question is on the queue behavior. When I search for a track, I can play it right then and there, but plexamp also adds the remaining tracks (by track number) from the album to the play queue. By default I want just the one track to play with nothing else added to the queue (Autoplay is already disabled). Any tips? Thnks

use the Play Next action.

How do we set Play Next as the default action when tapping a song?

Having to tap the three dots menu or long-press the song to bring up the menu to select Play Next is annoying and forgettable.

There’s no way to do that.

What exactly are you trying to accomplish? Tapping on a track when nothing is playing plays just that track? If so, it’s pretty standard behavior in music players to queue up the rest of the album.

No. Tapping on a song when nothing is playing plays that song and enqueues the rest of the album by track number, even if I search for a specific song and tap it from the search results.

The desired behaviour is that, with autoplay disabled, if I tap a song, it plays only that song and enqueues nothing after it.

I understand the desired behavior, and as I said, what we do right now is pretty standard behavior for music players.

Prior to the SaaS era, if you tapped or double-clicked a song, it opened and played just that song. See Winamp, VLC, Windows Media Player, etc. There was separate functionality, usually explicitly called enqueue/queue, that did what PlexAmp currently does. And often which was done by default was configurable.

The desired behaviour has been standard going back into the previous century–before Plex even existed.

Just because trash like Itunes, Spotify, YouTube, et al do it doesn’t mean PlexAmp has to force it on us as well. After all, one of the core traits of Plex’s userbase is that we didn’t much care for how the streaming platforms do things.

I’m also not asking for a unilateral change. I’m asking for the option to configure it. If you look back through forum and reddit posts, you’ll see there has been interest in such an option for years.

if there is a ton of demand for such an option we will consider adding it, but we can’t add a new setting every time people want different behaviors as i’m sure you can understand.

What qualifies as “a ton”?

I have to agree about wht PlexAmp is compared to. The old simple classix like winamp and vlc, and now Squeezer, Emby, Bandcamp, Plexamp. I’ve tried many and PlexAmp is my choice but not because it acts like Apple software..

The reason “play next” doesn’t work as a full replacement, is if the music is paused or has something else playing, 'play next’is just different.

Another relevant thing that would useful is ‘clear queue’ from plexamp.

Have used PlexAmp exclusively lfor at least a year now and would love to see a little more love in track queues and playlists controls.

Where is the Plexamp feature request?
So that we can add a ton of demand where it will be acknowledged.

It’s right here.
