Play Queue Post-Play Screen cutting into the end of Anime

I’m not sure if this is a change because of the skip credits but it seems in the last little bit the Post-Play screen has become much more aggressive about displaying and also stops me from being able to go back to the video, it will force me back to the Post-Play screen.

Most of the time this doesn’t impact tv shows however lots of anime has post credit scenes and I don’t get to see the subtitles because of this.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Sounds like the behavior you get at the moment if Plex is running into the final credits sequence. If there’s post credits scenes, Plex should usually display a Skip Credits button instead, letting you directly jump to that scene.

It seems to be dropping me out to the Just Played much earlier than it should and it only seems to be happening with anime. I was able to watch episodes of Discovery all the way to the end without issues but just watched the latest episode of Trigun Stampede and it dumped me out with a minute left.

I’m seeing the same thing with short (~20 min) animation episodes. I’ve tried changing the end credit detection and completion markers but it doesn’t seem to make any difference.

I’ve seen at least one post where people aren’t getting a “Skip Credits” when the scene is truly a post-credit scene. There just aren’t any more credits after that scene for Plex to look for on-screen text.to mark as the final credit sequence.

My guess is, those scenes are skipped intentionally, because lots of movies have Studio logos and animations lasting 20-30 seconds (maybe longer???), and wouldn’t be considered as a “post-credit” scene by anyone. I’m guessing things like this will eventually be tweaked.

End Credit detection doesn’t seem that good at things like anime that don’t follow a traditional still image montage or black screen with credits. I kinda wonder if the credits being paged style and in an Eastern language impact things.

I’ve been watching The Irresponsible Captain Taylor ripped from Nozomi’s blu-ray release and they have their own scrolling English credits added to the end of each episode after the original Japanese ED animation/credits. Plex either misses the Japanese ED completely or triggers partway through. But it always recognizes the Nozomi credits after that.

I can’t help but note if the credits detection for TV series worked like the older intro detection does, using audio fingerprinting, it would actually be much more accurate. The main difference would be for the system to recognise multiple segments (for mid-credits scenes to be detected and worked around).
