Playback Error - An unexpected playback problem has occured

I recently started getting the same error, mostly when starting/resuming a tv show/movie, but occasionally even in the middle of watching something! Seems to only be when playing from my Samsung Tizen TVs (on Android/FireOS not noticed it), but mostly use the Samsungs so it may affect the others too but not come across it yet. It looks to have started around the time I upgraded to 1.22.1. My server is running on Ubuntu. I’ve gone back to 1.21.2 for now.

The new build 1.22.4274-6000 for x86 Synology resolved the web GUI playback issue for me. However, it has the unwanted side effect of not allowing me to change any settings on the Plex Server. I’m now greeting with this message on every settings page.

But hey, at least I can watch content again. ;/

ROLL BACK TO PREVIOUS BUILD.

This release from Engineering is bad.

I’m waiting for a new one to test.

Its 1.22.42745-6000 now

Lol thats weird i had my adblocker disabled/re-enabled and it started working. Must be something weird with google extensions.

After rolling server back to 1.21.2 everything was fine again. Yesterday I tried upgrading to 1.22.2 and problem returned (just on my Samsung TVs like with 1.22.1). I then tried turning off public preview on one of the Samsung TVs and it was fine. Today I turned off public preview on the other Samsung TV too and that’s OK again too.
So it seems that there is an issue with latest Tizen preview builds with 1.22.x server but 5.1.2 Tizen build works with 1.22.x OK.
LMK if i can help further

I guess I commented too soon. After a little while started seeing the error again even with Tizen 5.1.2 and server 1.22.2, so it may just occur slightly less often or could have just been coincidence that it was working those times I tried it.
I tried deleting my plex server installation completely now and setting up new one from scratch (same version 1.22.2) with just a few shows to test in case it was something corrupted on my server. This resulted in same error. I’ve noticed that as well as the playback error messages, it sometimes just freezes when opening an episode and have to force close the TV app or reboot it too. Retrying same episode sometimes works fine though after a few retries, no difference on SD, HD or 4K content that I can see. Looking at server logs at the time I see lots of warnings saying “MDE: Unable to find a working transcode profile for video stream”. Oddly this shows up repeatedly when playing shows, even on the times when it plays correctly. It showed on fresh install of 1.22.2 too exactly the same. My videos are all H264 or H265 so only audio transcode is sometimes needed, never video.
Anyway I’ve run out of time to troubleshoot further for now as family want their media back so I’ve reverted my server back to a few days ago (using Timeshift) when I had it back on version 1.21.2 and so everything is fine again.
All I can conclude is that there is an intermittent issue between Tizen (latest preview release or 5.1.2) and 1.22.1 and 1.22.2 release versions which possibly only occurs when there is a need to transcode the audio.

One other thing I’ve noticed since reverting back to 1.21.1. It seems to transcode a lot more audio on 1.22.1 and 1.22.2 than it did on 1.21.1 and previous versions. Even when playing the exact same media file. For example it seems to transcode any EAC5.1 audio to AAC rather than direct play it.
