Hello everyone,

I’ve started using Plex just recently and I’m experiencing this issue where towards the end of the video/episode that I’m watching it just crashes and I’m not able to finish watching it, some videos have this issues and others don’t. If this issue is present in the video then I’m able to replicate it every time and it always crashes at the same timestamp pretty much. I tested the same video on multiple clients, works perfectly fine on native Windows app, in browser(Firefox) and on the new iOS app as well. On LG TV it just says:
“Playback Error
An unexpected playback problem occurred.”
and only thing I can do is press OK.
If you’re looking at the logs I attached then look at times from 15:15:00 2025_04_18 to 15:31:30 2025_04_18. I replicated the issue twice during this time.
I tried disabling HW accel, but it didn’t change anything.
Did anyone have similar issue ? how should I proceed or fix it ? anyone any ideas please ? Thank you

@BigWheel hi, sorry for the ping, but by any chance do you have some updates about this playback error? I saw you responding in threads about same problem as this from last year, are there no fixes/solutions yet?

commenting again for visibility, any news?

I too have been experiencing this issue. Only affects the LG Plex app, as I can playback the media in it’s entirety by using a Plex app on a video game console.

All the files that seem affected are in an mkv container, but I imagine the video and audio codecs are different.

Have been experiencing this since about 2023 or 24. Posted about it last year and still no fix. Latest update on my LGTV Plex app and Plex server too. @morganj @BigWheel, any update yet?

I found solution for LG TV Plex app. Go to “Settings” → “Subtitles” → “Burn Subtitles” and set “Never” . It helped me.

Not really a solution for me, because majority of content I watch has ass subs and LG TVs dont know how to natively show ass subs so they need to be burned in. So they either fix it or I’ll have to buy something like NVIDIA Shield/Apple TV 4K

updates please?

I want to Plex dev help me in this case because it was really annoying :sob:
