System setup: I have PMS loaded onto my Ubuntu 18.04 PC and all my data located on a Synology NAS, this setup has been working flawlessly for years.
I haven’t had my antennae working for some time (new house didn’t have needed wiring). Today I got the wiring taken care of and hooked up my antennae and found I had to update my Plex Media Server to use it. I had been on PMS 1.18.1.1973, I updated initially to 1.32.4.7195 not realizing that was a Beta release. After that update I get error s1003 (Network) whenever I try to play any movie or ripped tv show, music and recorded TV works fine, this is true on my local PC and on remote devices like my phone and Roku.
I first rebooted the PMS, then the entire PC, then the NAS to just say I did. I then reinstalled PMS followed by restoring a backup database from last week, all with no change. I then found that was a Beta version and downgraded to 1.32.3.7192, repeating all steps, with no resolution. I am unsure of what logs I can provide or where they would be, any help would be greatly appreciated, I am completely down.
Earlier I had tried to watch a movie on my phone to test if it worked, it did not. I apparently didn’t close the Plex app but rather backrounded it, later when my wife called me, after I hung up the movie began playing in the background. I went through my open apps and found it, and was able to watch it until I closed it. I was unable to watch it again, or successfully duplicate this.
I found a post by ‘Amishman’ from Apr '22 where he described a similar issue (Unable to play video remotely - s1003 (Network); the player cannot recover), where he described deselecting ‘Use Hardware-accelerated video encoding’ to be his fix. I did the same under ‘Settings>Settings>Transcoder>Use hardware-accelerated video encoding’ and it did fix my issue as it relates to movies and ripped video, but I still had this s1003 error for live TV from the antennae. If I go straight to my HDHomeRun tuner and record a channel, that works perfectly, just not from Plex using the TVGuide interface.
I did try to disable transcoding while recording to see if that would help, (from HDHomeRun settings under ‘Live TV and DVR’), it did not.
I then also deselected ‘Use hardware acceleration when available’ and that fixed my live TV streaming issues. I am not sure why that would break it seeing as I am running a Ryzen 5900x with a GTX 980, that is more than enough horse power (and both of these settings worked fine with PMS 1.18.1.1973).
