Hi all,
Just arrived at my parents in law house. Tried to connect my Plex server with the Plex app on the new Samsung smart TV here. Worked.
Tried to stream a 4K file (x265) but getting the error that „not enough CPU for conversion of this item“.
Conversion on Synology server side is off. Anyone know the reasons why the SamsungTV cannot play it?
“Not enough CPU…” is displayed when Plex needs to transcode the video, but transcoding is disabled.
There could be several reasons Plex needs to transcode the video.
For remote streams, it could be a bandwidth limit set on either the server (Settings → Remote Access) or on the client.
There could also be an incompatibility with the type of video or subtitles.
Suggestions:
Check the bandwidth settings in the Plex app on the Samsung. Set the limit for remote streams to maximum/original (the default for most Plex apps is 2 Mbps).
Play the movie with subtitles turned off. Enabling subtitles can sometimes result in video transcoding.
Play a low bitrate movie. Sort the movie library by bitrate. Pick one that has a low bitrate and video/audio that should direct play (H.264 SDR video, AAC or AC3 audio).
If you can get some video to play, monitor playback via Plex Dashboard → Now Playing. Make sure the stream is Remote, not Indirect.
Another cause could be a bandwidth limit requiring the Media to be transcoded (e.g. a client quality setting, a bitrate limit applied in your remote access settings or the video bitrate exceeding your server’s internet upload bandwidth).
