Playback Error: please check that the file exists

Server Version#: 1.19.3.2764-ef515a800
Player Version#: 4.33.1

Hey all, thanks in advance for your help!

Using Plex app on Roku Smart TV, streaming from laptop

This has happened a lot lately ~ watching a movie for 15-20 minutes then all of a sudden it will pause; after some time I then get the error message —

“Playback Error: please check that the file exists and the necessary drive is mounted”

I then retry and it re-connects, and the stream plays ok for a while before same issue again

Now I’m really not fluent with technology, but the fact that I’m able to watch my file in the first place means Plex can see the file/drive etc. Plex also has no trouble finding these files when I add them/refresh library

I also don’t think it’s a speed issue…

Happy to upload logs if anyone is kind enough to tell me where to look. I downloaded them from my web server but it’s all overwhelming and I’m not sure where to find the error

Still having the problem, any advice? Much appreciated

Anyone?

I’m having this issue a lot too.

I have Ubuntu Linux Server 18.04.1 (Linux 4.15.0-109-generic on x86_64)

My PC is i5-4460 CPU @ 3.20GHz, 4 cores w/ 8 GB Ram

No new hardware added. Everything was working perfectly up until a month ago. Now multiple Roku players are getting this stall and error. We have a combination of newer players and older ones and all of them are throwing this error. It’s not network bandwidth (300 Mbps down / 10 Mbps Up). I am confident that permissions are configured correctly on my Server.

It’s so frustrating that this happens in the middle of playback. It takes a while for the content to recover too.
