An error occurred trying to play “Insert Title (Clean Trailer)”. Error code: s3016 (Media).
This is occurring on both an Xbox One and an Amazon Fire TV stick on seemingly 50% of the trailers. I have verified network traffic and firewall rules to ensure nothing is being blocked. The Plex server is running on a Synology device.
Same error here. I’m in the Insider program, I guess that’s what is causing this. If you go to the plex settings and turn off Direct Stream, and turn/keep on Direct Play my files started playing again.
I didn’t make any changes; but, I did notice they had started working the other night - perhaps one of the server updates that occurred.
I’ve just encountered this error with playing back several files on the XBox One client and the PlayStation client. I went back and tried a file that worked last week and got the same error, and it works fine on the web client running on Chrome, so I can rule out a problem with the file. Within the Plex Web Client, can you go to a file you’re having this issue with and click on Get Info and see what the Bitrate is under the Codec? My assumption is that it is going to be in the ~3500 kbps range.
I had this problem and confirmed it was ~3500 kbps range. What does that mean and is there a fix?
A workaround is to change the quality on the Xbox to 3mbps or 4mbps and it’ll work each time you want to watch. I haven’t tried changing the Xbox to only play 3mbps yet but will try it and post back here. So for whatever reason the Xbox is having issues with files that are 3.5mbps. I’ll be submitting an issue into Plex.
Sorry it took so long. I did change the settings on my Xbox One to only allow 3mbps and then 4mbps for local connections and it did indeed play the files I’ve been having issues with.
