Server Version#: 1.21.2.3943
Player Version#: newest on ps4
Hello
For some time now I have kept getting “playback errors” in my player on the PS4
An unexpected playback problem occurred. ”.
Can then only acknowledge the error with “OK”.
Is there a way to update the app manually? It’s probably pretty out of date. Sony says there are no updates. I don’t have another player, I could just connect the laptop to the TV.
Maybe someone has the same problem?
edit:
this issue above happens in “early access mode”. when i switch back to older app the movie does load but buffer a lot.
when i connect my laptop to the tv and play the movie directly in web browser it does work fine (connected by LAN to the switch (same as the ps4)).
ok it’s a bit fun. i tried now to reproduce the error but i got it only on the first time. i tried it then again just to be sure to got it in the logs (had to activate them in the settings on ps4 (hope debug is ok)); but then the movie started - ok, it buffered a bit. then i tried other ones with the same result. they load with a bit of buffering in the beginning.
so i tried a bigger one (4k); terminator dark fate. a HDR message appeared in the beginning and then the error from above appeared (same message) but i could be that this is only cause of the size. maybe i have to optimize the format of this movie.
before all of this i tried to stream a movie to my mobile phone (google pixel 4xl) and even terminator 6 worked fine.
so i’ll attach 2 xml text files (one from Fury and one from Terminator 6) + the .zip file with the logs.
Thanks for the research and the explanation.
Is there a possibility to re-encode the files with plex by optimizing them or should i use other tools like VLC? I’m really not educated in re-encoding at all. I few years ago i encoded some movies for my ipod classic - thats it
Otherwise i’ll just wait till my tv provider release the plex app for the tv box i use from them.
Or i’ll connect the laptop.
Just fun that it runs smoothly on Laptop and mobile cause it streams also from the nas. Or am i wrong there?
& A new nas (with more power) i can not afford rather i would buy a ps5
i thought something about that. (that the hardware in my pc, laptop and mobile is better compared with the ps4; and that the issue is a combination of file & device). before i had the NAS i used my PC as “NAS” and had Plex server saved on it. and it worked much better with the PS4 as player.
so i’ll download the files from the nas again and reupload them after re-encoding.
thanks again
edit:
so the encoding for terminator 6 will take about 3h20min. will let this run over night and test it later
edit2:
both; Fury & Terminator 6 work fine now; quality still acceptable on my 9 year old tv ^^
when i upload both versions of a movie to my nas, plex shows me them double in the library. is there an option so i can keep both versions but it shows me them as one?
