Playback freezing. Help with log files

Most if not all my media is H.264 720 or 1080p. Experiencing intermittent freezing of playback across a multitude of players (fire stick tv’s, smart tv’s, browsers) both remotely and also within local network. Some H.264 media plays fine, other H.264 media freezes every 10-20mins. Stopping and restarting playback usually fixes the problem. Restarting player and/or PMS is sometimes required.

I’ve had this problem for 6 weeks now, over many different Plex server versions and ever since I built my new PC. So I am blaming my new build - either the M.2 SSD drive or the old Cyclone video card maybe?

I’ve tried playing with so many PMS settings I have my mind totally gone. No changes help at all. Also I have almost 400GB free on my main C: drive (the M.2 SSD drive).

I wish I could read the log files to help myself further, but they confuse me and I cannot make sense of them. I’ve attached them after I experienced some freezing on local media playback. Any help is soooooo soooo greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!!!

Windows 10, new build:
B450 Tomahawk Max
Ryzen 7 2700
Radeon 6850 Cyclone (old reused video card)
16GB DDR4 3200MHz
Samsung EVO 970 NVMe M.2 SSD main drive
Port has been forwarded in my router and I have a static IP address.

Server Version#: 1.18.8.2527
Player Version#: 4.22.2

By any chance were you trying to play the video’s using a Fire TV 4K Stick…
There is a similar issue starting with Plex Client Version 7.29.1

I have the same problem, It says reset player and PMS. I’m using a firesticks 4k on all my tv, and I didn’t have this until I updated to version 1.18.8.2527.

Well I still have Version 1.18.6.2368
and side loaded kepler-armv7a-amazon-fireExo-7.30.0.16311-29f7de79
to the Fire Stick and haven’t had a problem since.

All my Fire Sticks are the regular non-4K versions.

Also - when the media freezes, and I stop to replay again, it forgets where I left off and just restarts the media from the beginning. Frustrating.

Edit. It just froze and had to restart from beginning. Its a direct play local network 720p h.264 video with he-aac stereo audio.

Thank you nydave69, I loaded that up and it’s seems to be working now ! That file is beta but it seems to work just fine. Do you know what player version goes with PMS version 1.18.8.2527 that is not still in beta ?

nydave69, do you know if it’s just the 4K firesticks affected or all of them?

My Plex client version on the non-4k firestick is 7.29.2.16071

Any way to roll back this on the firestick? Or any other fix?

I’m going to try clearing the data, cache and uninstalling/reinstalling the app. I’ll report back.

I had trouble with the 7.29.2

I was just posting in another thread that I’m testing the 7.30 beta but the announcements for devices doesn’t list anything past 7.29.2 strange that they would pull them.

Not sure whats happening at this point.
Just verified I’m running 7.30.0.16311 (29f7de79)

EDIT: sorry I was looking in the wrong place…

Me too - here’s a complete and detailed overview what I found out

Please provide a fix as soon as possible. Thanks

Okay, so with nydave69’s help, I’ve installed a beta version of the plex player for the firestick tv.

On the firestick, I downloaded the “downloader” app and after allowing third party apps to be installed in the settings, I grabbed the latest version’s (7.30.1.16449-beta) download link from here:

https://forums.plex.tv/t/android-mobile-beta-release-notes/154125/299

and (painfully) typed it into the downloader app on the firestick. Installed and after 1hr of playback, all seems to be good so far.

Thanks!!

Did you use the instructions for sideloading from a windows PC that I had posted…

I think I followed a different set of instructions. I’m sure there’s an easier way then how I did it.
