I have an wd my cloud ex2 ultra it was working perfect until i updated it after i updated it half my files now say that it cant be found on the server. any help would be appreciated. Wish plex had an 800 number to call for help or even email but all they have is forums.
Was it an update using this binary?

Could you ensure debug logging enabled on the server - see
https://support.plex.tv/articles/201643703-reporting-issues-with-plex-media-server/
and then stop and restart Plex Media Server app to get fresh new logs
and then load Plex Web to access your server and select one of the affected libraries and select the Edit Library option and then Add Folders and get screenshot which should show all the path for the media
when you connect to the WD MyCoud desktop interface - there may be a Web File Viewer app in the installed apps set - could you look for it and load it and drill down to where your media is and get screenshots
And get server logs after trying to access the library and get the file unavailable errors

my plex version is 1.19.5.3112 it says up to date anyway you can send me a previous version as it worked on previous versions.Plex Media Server Logs_2020-08-22_07-32-06.zip (4.8 MB)
oh and it plays on my phone but not my 4 grand pc tvs or laptop when these files played before
Can you tell me if this is what we are referring to as being the problem
Playback ok where the device uses Direct Play but if Direct Play and Direct Stream is not available then the playback is refused.
I can see in the logs the following:
TV Episode /shares/Public/Shared Videos/TV Shows/Rizzoli and Isles/Season 2/Rizzoli and Isles S02E02.avi
played ok with “Direct Play” and no transcoding on the Android (Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G) device - august 21 16:46
but it failed to start playback on Google Chrome through Plex Web at 18:51 as transcoding is not available

Did this same avi file playback on Google Chrome Plex Web before ?

its not just chrome im having issues with its also my samsung television im uploading my logs after trying to play it ont he tv im confused how itll work one minute then i update the server then it dont work can you plese give me a previous server so i can go back to watching my library its more than just one title.Plex Media Server Logs_2020-08-23_05-34-23.zip (4.8 MB)
It is whenever a media is found to require transcoding and as transcoding is not available on the EX2 Ultra, the playback fails to get started
I sent you the previous public release - 1.19.4.2935 - could you do the same test as you just did and previously on Google Chrome and get me server logs from this version so I can compare
Do you know if you were running on 1.19.4.2935 before the update?

I suspect one of the Transcoder preferences got unset in 1.19.5 release for the WD MyCloud EX2 Ultra
On the version that works - could you go to server settings and then Select Transcoder settings in the left sidebar and click on Show Advanced
Note down or get screenshot of the settings page to see how this is set - ticked or not ticked
Then please upgrade again to the version that does not playback - version 1.19.5 and get a screenshot of this setting
Then please tick the box for “Disable video stream transcoding” and save the changes
And try playback of the avi file that was failing before
disable video transcoding is unchecked in the old version the new version it was checked i unchecked it save \d the changes and tried playing and it plays back i believe you figured it out for me i appreciate all your help!
Could you get me zip of the Preferences.xml of the server now -zipped And sent in private message
Shut down Plex Media server and then copy out the Preferences.xml - look for it in the paths in my PM
im not sure on how to get that and the only way to shut down my plex media server is to unplug my wd mycloud theres no option to shut it down
I thought there may be a button to stop the app / start the app on the Apps screen entry for Plex Media Server
Just give me screenshots of the server settings now - the version that is working ok together with the logs for a playback of the avi

Looked at the logs - they do not have any of the playbacks that failed before
You have these which failed before because they required conversion

but you also have Season 3 but these appear to be all mp4 and can Direct Play on the Samsung TV - so these would have also played ok before
The playback I see in these last logs zip was for

Rizzoli and Isles S03E04.mp4
Rizzoli and Isles S03E05.mp4
I would like to see playbacks of the avi files that failed before and not the mp4 ones
so please get me 1.19.5 logs for successful playback of any of these avi files

Just to re-iterate I do not have a 1.19.5 set of logs showing that the issue is resolved - the logs I have were for direct play
Please play one of the avi for season 2 and let me have server logs zip after playback starts ok
