Am I the only one with this issue? Playback info:
Direct Play
1920x1080@46.4 Mbps
MKV
Direct Play (H264)
Direct Play (DTS 5.1) - this is the DTS-HD soundtrack
ExpPlayer
If I switch to regular DTS (lossy) then it works as expected.
This particular video doesn’t have audio dropouts but video stuttering makes it unwatchable. Plays fine in Kodi btw.
Server version: 1.21.1.3876
Client version: 8.11.0.22186 (a1b8a7fb)
P.S. I have another file which has the same issue. Bitrate on this one is much lower: 15.5 Mbps. But I have one that plays fine and bitrate on this one is: 38.8 Mbps. So it is not immediately easy to understand what causes the issue…
None of the files have subtitles.
Update: I can see that the DTS-HD file that works shows 1080i whereas the other 2 show 1080p…
Hello again!
I have tried everything I can think of to try and troubleshoot this issue. I have 2 MKV files containing concerts that will always fail (video stuttering) when I play them on my Nvidia Shield and select the DTS-HD MA soundtrack. I have recreated the MKV files several times and checked the MKV files using different tools (MKValidator and ffmpeg) and they don’t return any errors.
So I must assume that this is a bug in the server or the client. I hope that someone can help with a fix.

If anyone is interested (apparently not based on the lack of response to this thread). I found the root cause. It’s described here: [BUG REPORT] video stutters with pass through DTS-HD (nvidia shield) - #7 by mskovgaard
So I suppose it’s unlikely to get fixed anytime soon
Nice, I’ll give that a go
I can confirm that v8.12 beta solves the issue with DTS-HD MA @ 96KHz so that’s great. Tried a few small clips in 4K Atmos as well and so far all looks good. It crashed once but worked with that particular move the second time I tried. So I’m happy. Thanks for the tip, @Achilles
Hmm… there is still some audio studder for me.
