I currently have an iPad and Apple Gen 4 TV working with Free Plex TV Account. I have downloaded Plex TV onto another iPad, sign-in and get a “Playback Limit - You can use this app for free as a Plex remote control. You can also fling media ti other Plex apps, including photos and videos on this iPad. If you want to stream media to this iPad, you can activate with a one-time in-app purchase. You can also sign in as a Plex Pass subscriber. Otherwise, playback is limited to one minute.” I am connected to the same media server in all of the above cases. Is the free Plex TV Account limited to a certain number of devices? Or why am I experiencing this issue?

The Android and iOS apps are only usable if:

  • you have bought them in the app store
  • your Plex account is a member of a Plex Home

If you have iDevices where the plex iOS app is unlocked, it means you have bought the app in the past. Such purchases are bound to the app store user account.
Make sure your new device is signed into the same app store (Apple ID?) as your old devices.
