Playback navigation invisible Plex HTPC

Hello, i have an old mac mini that i have been using as a media player for the last year(Late 2011 mac mini, macos 10.13) runing Plex Media Player fine with no issues whatsoever, but Plex HTPC is really slow and laggy(kindof expected that with such an old integrated graphics solution) but the worst problem is that when i try to play anything, the media plays fine, but the control overlay does not show up. i can hear the clicking when i use the remote and it seems the buttons work, they just wont show up, which makes it kind of hard to use imo.

Are there any way of fixing this overlay issue, and maybe make the UI run a little better and not lag every time you move to a different media?

I’m running into the same issue with a similar setup - mac mini mid-2011, macOS 10.13.6 (High Sierra), same Plex HTPC version as OP.

The on screen controller doesn’t show up as expected when the screen is clicked or space bar/enter is pressed during video playback. I have tried disabling hardware acceleration, direct show/stream, running in windowed, each of the always on top settings, nothing helps make the controller show. The only time I can bring up the controller is clicking when the video is first loading, but it disappears as soon as the video starts.

As @NiceManiac said, the actual controls work, eg. pressing enter twice will pause the video, you just can’t see the OSC.

Note this issue does NOT occur on my other, newer mac mini running the same Plex HTPC version - mac mini 2018, macOS 12.3.1 (Monterey).

does anyone read this forum? this seems to be a problem on older macs, tested and same issue on a 2011 macbook pro with the same processor and same macos version(even if it should be supported according to the download page).

Tried updating to 1.23 but the issue still persists with the invisible playback overlay.
