Playback of recorded TV is fine, but it has been compressed. When I change it to convert automatically playback switches to double speed (like fast forward).
The problem only happens on my NVidia Shield. PC playback is fine. (I haven’t’ tested with any other players.)
Having the same issue on Xiaomi Mi Box S and Amazon Fire Stick 4K Max.
It is only reproducible in you select Convert Automatically. If you choose available options from Show All it works ok.
Plex server uses Hardware Transcoding - Intel 630, but it seems it doesn’t depend on it because processor transcoding has the same issue.
Also having this issue on my Shield TV. Happens every time I skip intro or commercials and only stops when selecting ‘Play original quality’

I went to settings>video quality>adjust automatically and selected “OFF”. And the issue is gone. All fixed !!
This! Exactly! It’s been happening to me for about 3 weeks. If I close Plex on my shield, reopen, then “play from the beginning”, it will work fine (as long as I don’t skip intro or skip forward).
Does anyone from Plex ever reply in these forums?
Unfortunately it seems to depend on what product has the fault.
Android team rarely seem to help, but log something on Plexamp which the CEO likes playing with and it typically gets responded to.
Very disappointing but that seems to be the way it is.
I found a work-around.
If you convert to a lower bitrate it seems to solve the problem.
Click on Quality → Convert to … bit-rate.

I have being seeing this issue on my Fire HD8 and Xiaomi Redmi 9 for a while now. Does anybody know if its being looked at? Thanks.
It is/was fixed in last official release, but latest beta breaks it again
