Android Player Ver. 8.24.0.28408 speed playback at 2x if automatic convert is triggered

Hi,

suddenly my android client go crazy. let me explain

If i play a mp4 aac anime on android and goes direct play no problem.
if for any reason i trigger by myself automatic convert…it start play video at 2x speed…on every android device

No change both client and server side
Playing same file from edge on a pc client no problem.

The strange behaviour that tautulli show me is:

edge(pc) transcode h.264 to h.264 and aac to aac as expected

on android it says h.264 to h.264 and aac to OPUS wtf???

And all of this suddenly…no change made…

Any suggestion?

same issue here using PMS 1.24.5.5173 on OSX with playback on Shield 8.25.0.28665. My issue is only with recordings using the LiveTV function and using HDHomerun. Temporary fix is to optimise my recordings folder.

you fix also rolling back shield plex app to 8.23.1

I try to switch android client settings h.264 to version 40. Its fix to me.

not working at all.

original file is h.264 4.0 audio aac
if i trigger automatic convert it start speed the video at x speed and on plyaback information i can see that the transcoding audio part is from aac to opus

which is strange because on 8.23.1 if i trigger auto convert is from aac to aac

plex doesn’t need really to convert aac… it’s only a test

This have to be fixed. it’s already 2 or 3 release of apk

I have this same issue on my Shield tube. It forces me to reinstall to get it to stop the fast playing on everything I play. Super annoying.

it’s better if you temporary downgrade to 8.23.1 and stop automatic update in play store settings in the shield…until they fix. don’t worry. i’ll post an update when it works again. one of my android client is for test purpose only

it’s really simple
uninstall plex on your shield

go to this page Plex: Stream Movies & Live TV 8.23.1.28053 (arm64-v8a) (Android 6.0+) APK Download by Plex, Inc. - APKMirror
and download the .apk file 46MB more or less
Transfer it on your shield in a way. it can be bluetooth… or a usb drive
install on shield.
disable automatic app update inside play store settings

open plex app installed. login with plex.tv/link code

go on your pc, login to your plex account web page.
visit plex.tv/link. insert the code that shield dislay(usually 4 digits) and confirm. that’s it.

last, untick on shield, if preset is it plex media server(you want a client only)
usually is on bottom left once you login first time
