Playback problems on Roku Plex Clients

For the past 2 weeks or so half my library has been unplayable, even though many of the now-unplayable items have been played previously. Happens on Roku Ultra and TCL Roku TV. Zero playback issues on Plex-Desktop on linux, Plex app on Android, web, or remote streaming with Plex app on Roku. All files WILL play using Roku Media Player app.

After removing and reinstalling Plex client apps, changing server network settings, and pulling my hair out, I discovered that simply changing one default setting in the client app makes everything playable again. Go to Settings>Video>Direct Play and change from Auto (default setting) to Force, now everything plays.

So, Plex Client and Server are failing to negotiate Client Capabilities? I hope a fix is coming, because I can imagine my workaround will cause something else to fail later.
