Version: PlexMediaServer-1.15.4.993-bb4a2cb6c-x86 Happens even on music in my house for me. Music pauses for two seconds every 41 seconds. No CPU spikes or anything. Tivo as the client.
I am having this same issue along with my shared users. I"m currently running version 1.15.8.1163. I usually watch on web browser through chrome. My shared users watch through many different platforms.
Same issue on PMS 1.16.1.1291 and the last 3 releases (at least) on Win10 1890 64bit. Casting to chromecast ultra randomly stops after and intermittent amount of time. Skipping to the next/previous track does get it playing again. Other devices seem to work fine.
Also, plex randomly moves to the next track in the middle of the current track. This happens on all devices; chromecast, android, web, etc.
Playback on my familyās two android phones crackles constantly without fail.
I thought the removal of plugins and other functionality last year was designed to allow the team to focus on core functionality. I have a lot of issues just playing my content. Nothing special.
Plex team, from one developer to another, please focus on QA of your core functions. Without a solid base, everything you build on top of it will be flawed.
Same issue as Playback stops randomly
I would like to know when there will be a solution to this. I have been having playback issues on all devices including. IMacs app and web interface. Windows app and web interface. Android app (tablet, phone etc), and Amazon Fire stick. These issues happen with any media type MP4, MKV, Avi, MP3, AAC Etc. Playback stops in the middle of TV shows usually pausing and waiting for a few moments fixes the issue but sometimes the app has to be closed and reopened. The issue happens while listening to audiobooks and again often times the app has to be closed and reopened. I used to rely completely on Plex for streaming audio during my long commutes but have had to move onto just downloading the audiobooks to my phone. been having these issues since May have rolled back two previous versions multiple times to fix the issue but each time I upgrade to the latest version the issue returns.
I have been watching this issue for some time hoping that there would be a solution soon. but it never seems to come
If you need any information or d bugs from my system I can provide them

i am having same issue. my movie will play for about 12 mins then stops and says something about having problems connecting to network. i have not cahnged a thing to my system been using it for years and have a huge library now. never had to many issues in past but now this is super annoying. plex is the only thing i use for watching my movies through multiple devices. samsung smart tvs, 2 ipads, xbox one, ps4, iphone, and imac, use to be amazing, but now last month has sucked big time.
Version 1.16.3.1402
Just wanted to add my input on this. Had the same issues as others as stated (for me personally, playback on a Windows PC via FireFox), but after using the desktop app here there were no more freezing problems!

I am here to announce that I have finally installed a āsolutionā to this problem.
I was always aware of this solution but was avoiding it because I still had hope that the Plex Developers would take this problem seriously and build a solution into one of their updates.
But no, that hasnāt happened. This issue has rendered my entire media library unusable for months now.
And instead of solving bugs and issues such as this the Plex team has been spending all their time integrating new features such as āTidalā and other such add-ons. (Iām sure somebody out there is happy about that) donāt get me wrong I always love new useful features but not at the expense of functionality.
I have been using Plex since its first development from XBMC and Kodi.
I have spent countless hours organizing and maintaining my media libraries, I paid for a lifetime Plex pass. And even convinced several of my friends to build Plex servers and get a Plex pass.
I am sad to say that I will no longer be using Plex and have moved on to āEmbyā
There are many things that I will miss about plex but at least Emby works.
Maybe someday when Plex gets its s*** together I will come back.

Did anyone know if there is a fix planned for this?
Same problem here, Iāve had it for months now. For me, there is no problem for some files, but it is present for others. I will try to revert back to a version prior to 1.15.0.659 (Februaryās update). Pretty sad this is getting no attention whatsoever.
Also experiencing this issue. Playback stops after a few episodes, giving the impression that there is an issue with streaming. Occurs when using both the play all and shuffle options. Currently running 1.16.6.1592
Just wanted to chime in with āme tooā. Strangely for me it only does this when Iām casting to my Chromecast Ultra. If I use PMP it works fine (I have the PC connected to my TV via HDMI), and none of my remote users are complaining. Iāve had several updates since the problem started - currently on Version 1.17.0.1841 - and the problem persists.
I can post logs the next time this happens if that will help diagnose the problem?
Following my post, I would like to confirm that reverting back version 1.14.1.5488 (late 2018) solves the problem. I had the same issue again today on a movie streaming to my Chromecast Ultra, where the stream would be stopped every 3-8 minutes. The problem had been occurring ever since the February update (but only for some content, mostly movies).
Thanks for that. Is there instructions on how to revert? Also I wonder what kind of functionality is lost since that update is a year old?
I donāt see any lost functionality at first glance. Unless youāre using some of the later features like TIDAL or Alexa integration, I think itāll be fine. First, I removed Plex via Windows program management. Then I installed this version:
I did not lose any of my settings or metadata, but be sure to do a backup just in case.
Is there any update to this issue? Itās basically making my Chromecast useless.
Iām appearing to have the same issue as well. 9-10 minutes and playback stops. This issue was not present in the past, is there any fix planned?
It shouldnāt be that hard to officially look into this issue. Itās pretty clear this started ever since version 1.15.0.659. Reverting back to 1.14.1.5488 fixes it. Most of the problems are for Chromecast (Ultra).
Same here. First time Plex user. Not super impressed thus far.
This has gotten even worse with 1.18.0.1944. My library is unplayable. Are they gonna fix this or do I need to find a new media player?
