Played status of TV series is weird in new libraries

I did a rather silly thing several months ago, dividing up my TV library mainly so that the shows requested by members of my Plex Home can be better highlighted for each individual. Now with improvements in smart collections and use of Plex-Meta-Manager, I want to re-combine these TV libraries.

Before dividing the libraries, Continue Watching contained episodes in-progress as well as those on-deck (not started). After dividing the libraries, Plex still remembered which episodes had been watched, but the on-deck episodes all disappeared from Continue Watching. This was unexpected and frustrating.

Now I’m bringing these libraries back together, and I have the advantage of being able to create a smart collection of shows where the current user has watched some (but not all) episodes and add it to all home screens - basically a supplemental Continue Watching to fill the gap I just described. However, when I go into one of these shows, Plex positions me at S1E1 rather than the first unplayed episode.

Are these bugs? As designed?

That is expected if you are clicking the show itself as a whole. Continue Watching lists episodes, so you are clicking on an episode and it brings you to that episode.
