Player for Android Watch (Wear OS)

I would really like a player for my android watch (wear OS), which is able to sync the music, so I can listen to my content from my watch (when I haven´t got my mobile with me).

The reason I made music bold is because I won´t need my Movies and Shows on my watch, only my music.

For how feature-rich plex is it seems backwards to me that it doesn’t even have a wearos app to begin with. I’d love one that integrated with the smartphone app to act as a remote (a la Spotify) so I can start playlists and albums from my watch. Please add this, or some way for us to start playlists from my watch, its the only thing I take my smartphone out to do when I go for runs in the morning.

Thats a cracking idea @tothlbd. I’m losing my remote down the sofa all the time and need to skip intro/outros to tv shows simply!

The possibilities are endless!

  • TV Remote.
  • Controls for music while driving so you’re not fiddling with your phone.
  • Storing select songs for playback
  • Providing updates on your servers status while away

Any many more I can’t think of at the moment.

Alternatively I’ll take a Tizen version for my Gear S3… :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m willing to go bonkers and say I’d even like the ability to play back video on my watch. Why? There are some exercise videos I like to do and it would be nice to be able to do them at the gym without having to look at my phone.

Also, just, why not?

Especially now that Google Play Music is being discontinued, Wear OS users are actively looking for a decent alternative app to sync their music for offline listening. Plex should really jump on this now while people are actively searching. It’s clearly an overlooked market and great opportunity for Plex to increase their users while staying in-line with their user experience. I hope they don’t miss their chance here. Also, I already love Plex and would personally use it like crazy if it were on Wear OS!

Absolutely, I just read the article on YouTube Music on ArsTechnica

Plex is definitely best positioned to implement a WearOS version for offline audio, and if it requires a Plex Pass then that’s fine by me. Getting pretty fed up with Google now!

I think Plexamp would be a good fit, it might even almost work as-is. I’ve been planning on setting up my watch again, I’ll try sideloading it.

Any new? It would be interesting now that Google and Samsung have teamed up to improve Wear OS.

I’ve had Plex set up for a few months now and absolutely been loving Plexamp. I would kill for this on my watch so I could get local downloads!

there are some news about the wear os player? i want to set up plex as server and go premium but if the player is not working on android wear, i will not buy.

I would love to have a plex client for Android Watch (Wear OS) also even if just a cut down version to play music, that way I don’t need to take my phone when walking or Gym.

I’d like it so I don’t need to take my phone with me while on trail rides or runs. Less weight, less to have fall out of a pouch/pocket. I like my music collection over having to go to different services to find music.

It would be great if we could have a version of plexamp for wearos devices so we don’t have to rely on our phone for music from our local plex servers
Specifically devices such as, the newer galaxy watch devices, and pixel watch (although anything that can run wear os should be compatible)

Posting to keep this alive. Making it easy to get the Plexamp downloads from our phones to our watches would be great. As of right now I have to plug my phone into my desktop and manually transfer each song I want before telling my phone to send it over to my watch. Adding something native would drastically save time.

There’s no need to bump feature suggestions. They don’t auto-close (except a thread was originally posted in a different category and the auto-close timer not removed when moving to the Feature Suggestions category).

Voting for the suggestion will do more for it…

Add in the fact Saming is killing support for Tizen in 2025.

Whether it be for Plex or Plexamp, I’d love for there to be a player for Pixel watch as well. A key feature would be downloading music to the watch, so that I could listen while on a run, so that I could leave the phone at home (no one wants to have a big phone in their pocket while running!)

This has already been suggested. But I want to bring it to your attention (again).
A Plexamp app for WearOS would be a great new feature for Plex Pass owners.
