Player skipping forwards continuously

With some videos on PS4, playback is impossible and it just plays half a second, skips forwards several minutes, plays half a second, and continues throughout with no solid playback.

These play back fine locally with VLC, using the Plex web player, and on Android.

There is nothing consistent between the videos that do this as far as I can tell, that is also different to other videos that do work. They have different audio formats, and their file type and video codec seems the same.

Please help! I was about to drop a lot of money on equipment to build a dedicated Plex server and with this problem potentially cropping up I’m starting to have doubts…

Did you ever find out the cause of your issue?
I came on here because I have exactly the same issue - only just started after upgrade of server to 1.18.3.2156. (but may be unrelated - see below) Have been using Plex for years, never had an issue - happening with files that have played fine before.

Files play fine on PC, Samsung TV and phone - it’s only on the PS4 I am seeing the issue
