Hi, I have my Plex server running at home and when I play movies eg HDR Movies they keep buffering. I assumed if playing contents from same house hold it should not buffer at all as it’s direct play within same network right?
For example if I turned off my internet, and opened up my Plex app shouldn’t it find the contents on the Plex server as it’s within the local network?
Check your server dashboard ( Detailed) and see if it is trans coding. A computer will require a high passmark to trans code 4K titles with HDR. Try and collect a title that does not trans code to your household clients.
Bit rate can be an issue as Smart TV have a bottleneck via Ethernet port 100mbs, you will have to consider peak bitrate rather than average bit rate.

I amusing fire TV cube to play movies and my internet speed is 1gb download and upload. Movies are being played directly and not transcoded yet they buffer???
