Hi I am finding issues with playback within home network. My server (Pc) has all my media files which I then access via my smart TV also on the same network (ethernet connection) however, certain media files (MKV) keep buffering. I assumed playing within same network would be a direct play back and no need of transcoding or buffering.
Do you know if your smart TV Plex settings are set to play at original quality for home content?
Have you got hardware transcoding enabled on your Plex Media Server? As you have a Plex Pass this will help if it is available with your hardware setup.
Also, what is the codec used in your mkv files? Plex will generally play h264 without transcoding. It’ll also generally play h265 without the need for transcoding but your pc may or may not support decoding h265 in hardware and this could be your bottleneck.
