Hopefully this is a simple and easy question for users of the PS4 app or Plex staff. I’ve only ever used the PMS from my Macs to the Apple TV app. On a computer I can obviously play local files using the player in PMS on said computer. I’m wondering if I attach a hard drive with the video files to my PS4—and the format, et cetera are all correct—if it’s possible to play them with the PS4’s app in the same fashion, without streaming from another device. Is this not possible? Or is the PS4 app just a client, like the Apple TV app?
The PlayStation client is just a client, it will not be able to see movies from your hard drive. This would be a job for the PlayStation Media Player app on the console.
