I’m trying to watch a movie that is 2hrs and 27 min in length and I only can see til the 2 hour mark and that all it plays yet when i go to info it show that the movie length is 2 hrs and 27 min anything I can do to fix this
I would try watching the movie using some video player (eg, vlc) on your
computer and see if you can watch longer than 2 hours on using the
video player. If no, then the problem is likely in the encoding of the
movie.
damtor thanks for the reply yes the movie plays fine using vlc but not using plex
What do you recommend encoding to right now its a @ h265 nvec mkv
Maybe a couple of years ago, I had a problem playing a movie back with
Plex on a Roku: it turned out the problem was with the firmware on the
Roku, and I had to wait for Roku to issue a fix. You didn’t say how you
are playing you movie using Plex (eg, on your iPhone, or using a Roku, etc)
when you experience the 2 hour cut off. I’d try playing the movie on
some different Plex apps (like the web app) and see if it works on any
of them. I’ve never used h265, don’t know much about it.
Good luck.
using chrome and android app
If you are experiencing the problem only with 2 different Plex apps,
it seems to point the finger somehow at Plex (in my non-expert opinion).
Sorry my suggestions didn’t really help you. Hopefully some expert
will help.
If you are able, you might consider re-encoding your movie to h264
(instead of h265) and see if that makes any difference.
It might provide useful information to someone who is really able
to figure out the real problem.
I re encoded again in H265 NVEC mvk with less compression ofcourse it created a bigger file but now plex plays movie just fine
