Playing music and photos simultaneously, music interrupted by videos in photos library

Ok get that showing videos and photos in the photo library has its benefits.

However how does one play music and photos at the same time without the music stopping when a video is happened upon in the photos library? Music won’t even restart once video stops and it continues with photos! Finding this behaviour on my 2017 Samsung TV Plex clients.

.plexignore will exclude all videos from all libraries, otherwise would have been an option if could exclude per library.

Don’t want to separate videos and photos into different directories on my NAS as I’d also like to view them together at other times.

Only option I’m seeing is to copy tens of thousands of photos to another directory, delete videos and create a photo only library out of this? Surely not!?!

Oh, nice find. Most clients cannot play music and video at the same time. Video in a photo library throws a monkey wrench into music with photos. Let me check what the expected behaviors should be. Although I think the answer is music should stop.

Any suggested workaround to this problem beyond copying files on disk?

The behavior you see is intended. Most clients (probably all) cannot play music and video at the same time. This can’t be changed but what happens when the next photo shows up possibly could be. I would suggest a feature request with your thoughts on what should happen when it goes back to photos.

OK.

Wouldn’t a decent feature request be along the lines of being able to “filter” what goes into defined libraries e.g. in this case set up a filter such that the photos library only allows jpgs (for playing music simultaneously) and then set up a 2nd photos library with no filters so can watch photos and videos at the same time (unrelated to music). That way don’t have to duplicate tens of thousands of photo files across different directories on disk to get a different library experience?
