Playing single songs in Plexamp

I like to mix and match from my music library on demand. I’ll go from artist to artist, album to album and play songs here and there.

How can I just play a single song like this in Plexamp without the whole album queuing up?
Clicking once on a song starts playing it and adds all tracks following that selected tracks.

I can click the dots, add to “play next” then “play” but is there an easier way than three clicks just to play a single track?

Thanks

Long press (right click on desktop) + Play next is only two clicks.

To be honest we haven’t gotten many requests to make it more of a common operation.

+1. I’ve been playing a track and then clearing the up next list when I just want to play one specific track.

That’s fair. I guess I listen differently than some.
I’m used to winamp on desktop where I can just quickly drag a song to the queue and play.
I tried the actions you listed and it does work. I have to click “play” once I’ve added to “play next” so that’s three (sorry for splitting hairs).

Is there a keyboard shortcut for “clear queue” ?

I might be confused, I’m assuming you’re starting with nothing playing. On a track, (1) long press it on mobile (or right click on desktop), and you’ll get the track menu. (2) Then select Play Next.

There is not.

Thanks, that works for me and is exactly the use case I was looking for.

Correct, starting from nothing. When I select “play next” from the menu it does add it to the queue but the track doesn’t start playing. I must click “play” to get it to start. Which makes sense but it does sound like I’m experiencing something different than dokuro. At any rate, it’s not a huge deal and I do appreciate you taking the time to respond.

edit: I was able to get it to play automatically once. Tried to recreate and then it didn’t again. Weird!

Ah, so you already have a play queue. Yes, in that case it won’t automatically start as another thing people do is organize their queue while paused

It’s weird. If I start from scratch with nothing it works as you describe. If I select “clear play queue” and then select a track the same way, it doesn’t play. Am I just misunderstanding this here??

clearing play queue doesn’t clear the currently playing track.

I guess if one hasn’t started playing anything, the existing functionality works. And then if one is already playing something, it continues to work (using ‘play next’) unless the track is paused. So I’d concede my scenario is far too much of an edge case to warrant much further thought  Thanks again.

Might be a silly thing to suggest but have you tried using the setting in the advanced settings tab to use 1-Tap Plays?

Another thing I have done to isolate an album or one track is I turn on repeat 1 mode. So if I don’t pick a new song by the time the other ends it just loops. Probably not the solution you are looking for but its another weird way to go about one track/one album plays. sort of. LOLOL

Thanks! I did turn on 1-tap, but it still queues any tracks subsequent to the clicked track.

Last thing to try. Under Settings > Playback > Autoplay. Turn off Autoplay. The description says “Play related music when your play queue ends”. This should stop some of the related tracks popping into the mix.

Thank you, I appreciate it! I’ve got that setting set to “off,” so we’re good.

What happens if you start a playlist that has one track in it, then begin adding your single tracks after that?
