I am 60 years old and trying to install Plex for Playstation on my PS4. I keep going around in circles.
My Steps:
1. Purchased Plex from Sonyplaystation Store.
2. Installed Plex and purchased a "Plex Pass".
3. Used the sign in code given to pair Plex with my PS4.
4. Click on "Launch" in the top right corner of the screen.
5. Select "Connect with server" (which I assume is the plex server I previously installed on my laptop).
6. The next screen I get is https://plex.tv/downloadswhich tells me to download the server program for a "Computer" or "NAS". (again)
Not knowing what to do I tried to download one of them and end up witha message saying the PS4 doe not support this data.
There does not seem to be an avenue to download a server program to my PS4 to make it work.
There is no way to contact Plex personnel by email. Very frustrating, no hair left to pull out. For God's sake someone please help me find what I am doing wrong.

Lets start by saying that I hope you check up your excessive flatulence.
And lets set a few things straight first.
* On your PS4 you install the client.
* On a machine in your home you install Plex Media Server (PMS).
By the looks of it you tried to install PMS on your PS4, which is not correct.
So.
1. Install PMS on your most powerful computer at home (if you haven't already).
2. Login to your Plexpass account in the PMS server "Settings" part. The address to the web interface for PMS is 127.0.0.1:32400/web if you are sitting on the machine which you installed PMS on.
3. Setup the libraries you want. For example a "Movie" library, and a "TV" library. It of course depends on which media you want to stream to the PS4.
4. Open up the Plex application that you bought on the Sony Playstation Store.

I have done everything you advised to the letter.
From your step 4: I open the Plex app that I bought, it asks me to go to the PIN website and insert the PIN. I did that easily.
The next screen comes up "PIN activated" Plex TV is now connected to Plex.
I asume I have to select the highlighted LAUNCH button at the top right of screen but when I do it results in a page saying I do not have any media servers yet and askes me to download one. I do have a server installed on my Laptop. This is where I am totally lost.
Sorry to bug you with this but I can't seem to see the wood for the trees on this one.
It just dawned on me that I must connect my server app to the PS4 by signing into Plex on my server (Laptop) going to settings and selecting "Connect" on my server.
Then I go back to the PS4 web page on my TV and select the LAUNCH button to establish the communication with the Laptop. It is only then that my library of files becomes visible on the PS4.
I hope these convoluted instructions help someone else faced with the same problem. Perhaps a more clearly written tutorial could be applied to the Plex website. As a retired tecnical teacher I would be prepared to do this if requested by Plex.
I have a plex pass account and have downloaded the plex app for my PS3 & PS4, however I am unable to connect any of these consoles to the PMS. When I open the plex app on either PlayStation console it give me 4 char PIN and advise to go to http://plex.tv/pin to learn about plex pass, which I have.
if I go to the plex.tv site it redirects me normal plex login screen, which I do, and then that's it. I see a Launch button top right corner and if I click that it just gives me a black screen.
why can't this app see my local PMS ?
If load the plex app on my android tablet it prompts me for my username and password and finds my local PMS without an issue. All devices are on the same network.
Yes my plex server is signed in and I have 2 green ticks in connected under the server settings
Morgs...when the PS4 or Xbox app gives you the code and you go to http://plex.tv/pin you need to sign in and then you will see a box under "PLEX PIN Login" that says "Enter your PIN to connect your device"...enter the code and then hit the yellow button that says "connect"...and your done....if you follow that link and do not see that box and message then logout of PMS and then try that link again and login and then you should see it?....if that doesn't work then something ain't right..

Huh? Wait, what? What do you mean that you "went to the PS4 web page on your TV"? What is the "PS4 web page" and what do you mean that you are visiting that on your TV? Are you sure you are using the Plex for PS4 app or are you using the PS4 web browser to use the web application?
I think the main problem here is that we are talking past each other by using a different vocabulary. Can you be extremely specific about what you did and I think we can understand each other. Perhaps screenshot things and take a photo of what you see on your PS4 now when you are done and show it here?

2. Using the PS4 connected to my smart TV I purchased Plex from the Sonyplaystation Store.
3. Installed Plex and purchased a "Plex Pass".
4. Used the sign in code given to pair Plex with my PS4. When successful a page will appear informing you the step is complete.
5. You must then connect the Plex server app on your PC/Laptop to the PS4. To do this sign into Plex on the server (Laptop) then go to settings and select "Connect".
6. Once connected go to the Plex web page on the TV that the PS4 is connected to and then select "LAUNCH". It is only then that my library of files becomes visible on the PS4.
You are now completely connected and ready to view/play your media.
