I noticed someone else seemed to be having the same issue as me I think although no one had replied to the thread.
When playing certain files, both movies and TV shows I'm getting a buffering screen for a few minutes then a message that just says: There was a problem playing this item, try again, home or sign out.
The files play fine on the iPad app and play locally through the media manager screen on the server (Windows) so there's nothing wrong with the files as far as I can tell.
Strangely if I leave it sitting on the error screen the sound for the movie then starts playing underneath but there's no way to get back to the movie itself.
Can anyone help with this at all or let me know what other information may be needed to help?
I bumped into this myself once but could never recreate. There's something broken in our transcoder or on the PlayStation for these files. The behavior where playback starts _eventually_ but isn't visible is really odd.
I need your help to recreate the issue. Afterwards we'll know if it's a Plex issue or a Sony issue. Please consider generating a 1-2 minute sample of the files which don't play for you. Then confirm the sample has the same behavior. Afterwards please direct message me a download link.

Hey all, I was having this issue too (Macbook Pro -> PS4). Simple fix: just keep lowering the local streaming quality until it works. I found the sweet spot to be 3Mbps for 720p and 2Mbps for 1080p. Hope this helps!
Would be nice if, instead of getting stuck in buffering only to be sent to an error page, Plex could recognize the problem and recommend lowering the streaming quality in the error page. Would have saved me quite a bit of hassle.
I’m still having the same problem. are there any solution to the problem. I can’t use chromecast or playstation to watch on the TV. I have no problems on ipad, tablet or pc. Please help best regards.
