Pleamp headless Smart resampling

Server Version#:
Player Version#: Plexamp-Linux-headless-v4.7.4

So recently got some free time and decided to try out the new (not so new) headless, after just using plexamp on a cell phone.

What a surprise. So nice. I have it playing through a Topping D10 balanced DAC into some studio monitors and it sounds fantastic.

My usual mode is to think of a track and start up a Track Radio. Note that I have resampling set to “Smart” under the settings page. So the Topping goes to work at 44.1 and seems to resample everything higher down to that… so I’m OK I guess. Still nice work.

BUT THEN: I hit “pause” to hear something my spouse was saying, during a track which natively was 192/24. (The Yes Album bluray rip) When I hit resume, BAM the Topping shifted to 192/24 mode (see it in the photo) and has locked on throughout the subsequent tracks.

I gotta say, it’s a pleasant surprise. So everything is now upsampling and it sounds awesome and no more gaps between tracks. So is this a mistake I stumbled upon? Or is “Smart” actually this smart?

yep, that’s Smart … it will switch sample rates as needed when playback resumes after an extended pause or stop … and during uninterrupted playback, sample rate is held constant to allow for Sweet Fades between tracks

Yes, it switches sampling rates opportunistically, so as to avoid clunky DAC sample rate changes.

Ah yes that makes perfect sense, if not for this digital readout I probably would have take awhile to notice if ever, but it is nice to know.

I read somewhere multi-room is working for you guys internally. man that would really allow me to ditch all of the old squeezelite’s. Can’t wait for that.

Thanks for all the work, it has come a long way.
