Please, please, please add an option to control the typeface used for subtitles to the Plex Media Server settings.
I have been stuck at the 1.24.5.5173 version of the PMS, because this is the last version that uses a variable-width font (like Arial/Helvetica). Every version since uses a fixed-width font (like Courier) which disturbs my viewing so much that I am forced to revert back to the old version of PMS.
This is of course a personal opinion, but when you have a Player setting for Subtitle Size, I fail to see why you cannot make the Subtitle Font a settable option as well. I am not asking for a huge gamut of fonts, only a few sensible choices.
There’s actually already an existing feature suggestion discussing (among others) an option to set the subtitle font. That thread has already collected a number of votes. I suggest you comment/vote in that thread to help us avoid distracting votes.
Unless I’m missing some unique aspect of your suggestion I’ll close this thread as a duplicate.
I have never seen a subtitle in Plex that uses the Courier font face. (except when it was a pixel-based subtitle format)
Which type of Plex app are you using and what is the platform where your server is running on?
Courier sounds like the last fall-back when there is no access to any font resorce at all – i.e. either an issue with the server (when subtitles are “burned in” during transcoding) or with the client.
