The home page has a most recently added section. Normally this defaults to the date it was added to the library. This sort order is great for Movies. But I put all the family home videos and pictures on Plex to share with other family members. It would be nice to have an alternative sort order for recently added family videos and photos to the date the media file was created, instead of the date it was added the the library. I am having a very hard time to keep the most recent family videos and pictures showing on the home page in the correct order. Frequently the most recently added gets messed up and I have much older family videos and photos showing up at the top of the list.
I just encountered when adding 6 years worth of home videos to Plex. You can filter by year. That’s a great start! But you can’t sort by the date the photo was taken within that year. You can only sort by date added, release date (which isn’t relevant here), and date viewed. The date of the video is both the created/modified date on the movie file itself as well as in the EXIF information in the file.
Ah, it looks like if you sort by “Release Date” on personal/home videos, it sorts by date taken! Yippie!!!
