This may come across as a ridiculous request - yet I just don’t ‘get’ PLEX? I"m NOT a tech-head, yet am trying to navigate my way through Plex to use it and it’s features.
Here’s my challenge, I’ve read just about all the website pages, but I just don’t understand. The website tried to be “too cool for school” when it lists the benefits and ‘how tons’ that I actually find it confusing.
I"m hoping that someone can possibly take pity on me and just plainly let me know what I can DO with lex and how to set it up!
So far, I have downloaded the Plex Media Server and sync’ed my own files to it. that works fine. I’ve also re-named all my files to be in the format Plex recommend so that it can search for the metadata easily enough. - This part I understand.
What I"m struggling with, is all the supposedly ‘cool features and benefits’.
Can someone please explain the Plex TV and Live TV feature? - does this enable us to stream TV channels from all over the world (that are legal of course) - like Kodi?
I’ve seen the pages linking Plex to Kodi - but I don’t understand what they are trying to say - (again, it’s like they are dancing around the point by trying to sound ‘super cool’ and after reading the kodi relevant pages - I still don’t understand what Plex are talking about!!!
Am I able to use the Kodi functionalities through the Plex media server??? is that it? if so, how do I set that up.
Basically, now that I can view my own files via the Plex media servier, I want to see if I can stream TV channels (global channels not just USA ones).
Can someone help me understand if that’s possible and HOW to do it.

Plex main feature is a Plex Media Server to stream your content from your computer to our various player apps whether locally or remotely an share with friends and family who may have plex accounts. A Plex Pass subscription is not required.
Plex is not Kodi, though there is a add-on for Kodi to view your things from your Plex Media Server. It is one of our many Players.
Plex is not a content provider. We do not provide you with any TV stations. LiveTv is part of the DVR functionality. So you can watch the stream live rather than just record it.You are still required to have your own over the air antenna or cable service and a supported DVR Tuner. Part of your subscription pays for EPG data which is required to display airings and schedule recordings. I’ve taken a look at the link - thanks this is useful as I did not seem to get that Live TV was linked to the DVR functionality - now that I know this, things will be much easier.
That being said, I have a lifetime plex pass yet the option for LiveTV and DVR is not visible on my profile settings when I follow the steps to activate it.
I have system - server - then this lat step is not there? IS there something I can do to activate it? I am currently doing an upgrade of the software as it appears that mine was out of date.

You can’t use Live TV or DVR if you don’t have a supported TV tuner device attached to your Plex Server (directly or via a network connection). Review the DVR FAQ pages for a list of supported TV tuners.
