I currently have a plex server AND a backup plex server both with the same content both running on Windows 10
My main server has issues anytime I upgrade past 1.3.4, if you try to remotely direct play anything it launches the title and immediately freezes for 4-5 seconds, plays for maybe 3 seconds and freezes again and so on. I have PlexPy installed on both servers and when this happens it doesn’t report as buffering. I had my brother try his PC and his Shield TV. IF I downgrade to 1.3.4 everything works great again.
I brought up my backup server upgraded to the latest version of Plex and guess what? It played perfectly!
I know its not the Internet connection as 1.3.4 plays fine, and I now know its not the Plex version as it doesn’t do it on my back up server.
So I am left with, it has to be my plex install. Does any Plex engineers have any ideas? When I roil back to 1.3.4 I do a uninstall through add/remove programs. IS there residual stuff I can manually delete after that without wiping out my DB?
If I have some issues with my DB, it wouldn’t affect playback correct?
Could it be something to do with codecs I have installed?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can give me some ideas of things to try from here.
Also, this only happens on Direct playing, transcoding works fine.
When it freezes it shows the “your connection is not fast enough” message. This happens on his PC and on his Shield. If I downgrade to 1.3.4 its fine again.
This isn’t random, it is repeatable over and over until I downgrade back to 1.3.4
I’ll put this as gently as I can. Stay on 1.3.4 if you can.
There are a few issues which affect you that have been documented and Plex is looking into. Hopefully the Devs will be able to sort this out and fix it in an upcoming release.
It’s not a codec or other issue if you can run 1.3.4 or lower version and your clients play fine. It’s not something you can fix on your end if 1.3.4 runs run.
Make sense?

The server is back on 1.3.4, it has been messing up on every release since 1.4.1. The last one I tried was 1.5.0.3501
The hardware specs are fine Intel I7 6800k, 32gb of DDR4 RAM and a GTX 1080 card.
I have looked at other log files on here and they seem to include personal identifiable information like usernames, is there a more private way I can send this to you?
Its not a troublesome file, it is any file that is 1080p, I tested 5.1 DTS, 7.1 Atmos, Stereo sound.
These are all MKV files and play perfectly fine locally.
