I seem to be having an issue with my AC/DC albums.
I’m pretty sure they were behaving themselves before, as I’ve colour-coded the folders in the finder to show that they’re filing properly in both Roon & Plex.
But I’ve just discovered that all my AC/DC albums are not in the correct place in Plex (although they are in Roon).
It’s very odd because if I drop an AC/DC album into a test library I have, it shows correctly:
I can only assume this is something to do with the fact that AC/DC released a soundtrack album for Iron Man 2 & Plex is misappropriating this Album Artist tag & Using for other AC/DC albums, despite their being completely unrelated.
Can anyone suggest anything I might try in order to resolve this?
If you’re keeping up with the incredibly exciting story, I’ve re-tagged the soundtrack album to sit with the ACDC albums & I’m now re-adding them a few at a time. Let’s see what happens when the soundtrack album goes back in.
I’m not using MusicBrainz & all my tagging is done manually by me to a very specific format that allows all my music (23,000 albums at the last count, give or take) to file the same in the finder, in Roon & in Plex. (I’m hoping to do away with Roon eventually, but I don’t fully trust Plex yet.)
Personally I find the MusicBrainz database to be a complete dog’s dinner. There’s no way it would cope with correctly tagging 10 or 15 different releases of the same album. I also have thousands of albums that are not in the MusicBrainz database so it’s definitely not an option for me.
I did solve the AC/DC problem, though.
If only I could get Plex to just use my tags & stop looking around the internet for other info that I don’t need, I wouldn’t have any of these problems.
