I seem to be having an issue with my AC/DC albums.

I’m pretty sure they were behaving themselves before, as I’ve colour-coded the folders in the finder to show that they’re filing properly in both Roon & Plex.

But I’ve just discovered that all my AC/DC albums are not in the correct place in Plex (although they are in Roon).

It’s very odd because if I drop an AC/DC album into a test library I have, it shows correctly:

(I’ve taken the “/” out because it can play havoc with some platforms, so the artist & albums artist for all the albums is just ACDC.)

When I drop it into my main library, it picks up a completely unrelated Album Artist tag & files with my Marvel soundtracks.

I can only assume this is something to do with the fact that AC/DC released a soundtrack album for Iron Man 2 & Plex is misappropriating this Album Artist tag & Using for other AC/DC albums, despite their being completely unrelated.

Can anyone suggest anything I might try in order to resolve this?

Okay, so removing the Iron Man 2 soundtrack album from the library seems to allow the ACDC albums to file correctly.

Quite why we should have to jump through these stupid hoops is anyone’s guess.

If you’re keeping up with the incredibly exciting story, I’ve re-tagged the soundtrack album to sit with the ACDC albums & I’m now re-adding them a few at a time. Let’s see what happens when the soundtrack album goes back in.

Are you using MusicBrainz? Because if you have MusicBrainz tag them, Plex deals with music files better because it uses the MusicBrainz database.

Thanks for the reply.

I’m not using MusicBrainz & all my tagging is done manually by me to a very specific format that allows all my music (23,000 albums at the last count, give or take) to file the same in the finder, in Roon & in Plex. (I’m hoping to do away with Roon eventually, but I don’t fully trust Plex yet.)

Personally I find the MusicBrainz database to be a complete dog’s dinner. There’s no way it would cope with correctly tagging 10 or 15 different releases of the same album. I also have thousands of albums that are not in the MusicBrainz database so it’s definitely not an option for me.

I did solve the AC/DC problem, though.

If only I could get Plex to just use my tags & stop looking around the internet for other info that I don’t need, I wouldn’t have any of these problems.

Appreciate the suggestion, though. Thanks.
