when in terminal and it asks for the password, what password is it referring to?

Actually it is asking for your OSX account password (assuming that you have admin rights).

the problem is i don't have an account password. i have it set up so all i have to do is press enter and that's it, but when i do it with terminal it doesn't work.

Unfortunately at the moment we cannot help you then as it needs an admin password to gain root privileges.

Having no password on your account with administrative privileges is NOT a good idea so we will not be making any changes to support it.

Even with a password you can have your account automatically login at startup, if that is your issue.

ok so i set up a password. i set my apple tv's dns to my ip address then went to terminal and all i'm getting is 

"sudo: ./PlexConnect.py: command not found new-users-Macbook:~newuser$ gloria1 -bash: gloria1: command not found

Are you in the right directory?

What output do you get if you enter "ls" (without the quotes) in terminal?

that might be the problem. i think the directory is my desktop. how do i set the directory to the plexconnect folder?

what i'm doing is typing cd in terminal then dragging the plexconnect folder to terminal then typing sudo ./PlexConnect.py then it asks for the password and i put it in. then it says what i listed above. what am i doing wrong?

HIt the enter button after dragging the folder to the terminal.

i am, it's saying command not found

try a "sudo python ./PlexConnect.py".

alright so i got it all to work and it says that the server was discovered and it started up but on my apple tv there are only computers and settings on it now no apps, no nothing.

that's what happens when i restart it. when i don't i go to the trailers app and it just says "trailers is unavailable. try again later"

i notice that it says 192.168.0.2 when my ip address ends with 3 not 2
