Hello. Im somewhat good with computers but clearly not on this little adventure. I was previously able to put plex on the ATV3 before the last update. Please all i need is an EXACT step by step guide on how to do it. I LOVE plex and love the effort people put in to make it work. Im also a proud plex pass member so i wanna take full advantage of the program if possible.

Sorry to bring up an oldish thread, but is this still the case? I'm running Plex via Win 8.1 into a Roku but have just about talked my Dad (in England) into installing Plex on Win 7 and streaming to his ATV3. Problem is, I need the setup to be as foolproof as possible and I'm reading different things (like the latest update stops Plex Connect functionality, etc)
The WIKI is mostly accurate - it might miss some hints, though.
PMS->PlexConnect->aTV is still going strong. Or I just didn't hear otherwise. :-D
However, there is no guarantee Apple won't mess with it...
Just followed the instructions and it works well on my Mac Mini PLEX server and Apple TV!Â

So brilliantly awesome! Got it to work in 10mins... I skipped the step of installing certificates on my Windows host but that was sorted out in a jiffy. Absolutely perfect guide. The best guide I've ever ever had the pleasure of following. Kudos to whoever wrote the guide & wrote the codes. Truly hats off.Â

This is the error i get on the command to run the plex connect.

I did those things with no result , i already googled allot on this issue.
Thats why i pose my question here. Maybe there is a workaround to launch the server.
it's not letting me open the Plexconnect.py, it asks me what would I like to open it with, any idea? running windows 8.1

If you read thru @meltman’s answer you could of found this on your own.
Run system recovery (hold command+r @ boot) or put in a osx boot disk or USB recovery thumb drive if possible then run disk utility and repair disk permissions. If this doesn’t fix it I would personally reinstall osx without any time machine or ccc recovery tools unless you wish to spend a lot of time debugging the issue, your choice.

Hi f00b4r, the four links from git-page “nix autostart”, showing how to autostart the plexconnect daemon in different flavors of linux, are not working anymore.
