I’ve just realised this question is unanswerable in the sense that until I fix my router’s port forwarding the web app will never be able to work (obviously)
I’ll come back once I’ve fixed the router:-)
Running PMS build 1.5.5.3634-995f1dead
on Mac Mini (late 2014)
and OSX 10.12.5
Had a router failure and replaced router with a temp router (BT Home Hub 5) and have failed to get the port forwarding set up correctly.
Today I have a new fail. From within my network (so everything on 192.162. addresses):
Using plex.tv on chrome running on a mac on the network I get “The server “*****” is unavailable”
While using the iOS app on iphone 6 on the same network via wifi I can connect to server and play movies
Using plex.tv+chrome on the same iphone I get the same error (unavailable)
Can anyone suggest the correct debugging protocol? I have logged out and back in on all machines.

This assumption may not be correct.
What may have happened:
You “required” ‘Secure Connections’ on your Plex Server.
This in turn only works if your router doesn’t employ ‘DNS Rebinding protection’ (or you put an exemption rule into your router).
Either your old router was a different model or you configured it in the past so that Plex worked.
The best strategy for now would be to disable ‘secure connections’ on your server.
Shut down Plex Server
Change the hidden server settingsecureConnections to the value 2
Start Plex server
Then load the local version of the web app and allow it to ‘fall back’ to unencrypted communication
(Settings - Web - General)
